Natalie’s Rainforest project is now complete. Natalie and dad combined ideas to use yarn, pins and a side-facing label to label the animals in the rainforest.

I think the labels detract from the initial cleanliness of day one, but labeling was a requirement so there isn’t much we could do.

I was very happy with Natalie’s involvement; she heeled with everything except the hot glue. I covered some exposed pins in the back with tape. We’re ready to march this thing into school tomorrow. :-)

Natalie and Dad started working on Natalie’s “Layers of the Rainforest” project.

We didn’t have enough time to label all the animals but we’ll do that on Wednesday. It’s unfortunate that we need to add so many large labels but we’ll figure out a cool way to do that. :-)

Dad’s cousin had a birthday so we went over to her place for a barbeque. The weather wasn’t too nice so we spent the day (and the entire weekend) inside.

Singing in the Car

Singing on the way to school. I found the lyrics of the song we often sing. These lyrics differ a little from our version but give you a pretty good feel for the overall song.

It took dad about a month to remember the gal’s name… now he can’t forget it. :-)

Magalina Hagalina Oocatalka Walkatalka Oca-poka woka was her name.

She had seven hairs on the top of head three were alive and four were dead Magalina Hagalina Oocatalka Walkatalka Oca-poka woka was her name.

She has two eyes in the middle of her head one was green and the other was red Magalina Hagalina Oocatalka Walkatalka Oca-poka woka was her name.

She had two teeth in the middle of her mouth one pointed north and one pointed south Magalina Hagalina Oocatalka Walkatalka Oca-poka woka was her name.

She had two hips like battle ships One stayed home with the other took trips Magalina Hagalina Oocatalka Walkatalka Oca-poka woka Was her name.

[said slowly] One day a truck hit poor Magalina Poor old guy had to buy a new machine [normal speed] Magalina Hagalina Oocatalka Walkatalka Oca-poka woka was dead.

The girls wanted to see the baby animals at the zoo. After taking turns with grandpa’s hat in the car, the girls enjoyed watching the dolphins and the farm animals.

The girls took turns feeding the goats and looking at piglets. Overall the girls had a very good time.

Today the girls had their first try of Thai food. After a walk at the zoo we stopped for some Pad Thai at a local Thai restaurant.

The place was certainly a dive, but the food was very good and the service was excellent. :-) Both girls gave the meal a “thumbs up” rating.

Feels Like Summer

It wasn’t hot out but the girls enjoyed a very summer-like day. We started off at Trader Joe’s stopped in Bloomington so dad could get a haircut and came home to enjoy some delicious mussels, potato fries and grilled chicken.

After lunch we took a long walk and watched Kung Fu Panda.

Doing Math

Not much going on today. The girls came over for their Wednesday overnight and didn’t have any homework (because they are on spring break) but they practiced their math problems (on puppyMath) anyway.

We also had an unexpected visitor today (dad’s uncle) Cucho.
